Endurance Carnival 2009 Motegi KART Endurance Festival "K-TAI" will also be held in 2009. On August 1st (Sat), a 5-hour final event for the Mission Class will be held with 73 teams participating. The weather was cloudy and the temperature was not too high in the morning, but by the time the teams lined up on the grid, the blue sky spread out and the typical heat of an endurance event arrived.
The opening of "K-TAI" begins with the opening ceremony held on the course. Led by the mascot character of Mobility Resort Motegi, "Kochira Family" and their "Pipira", all the players march in and are welcomed by the officials and staff with applause. This ceremony is a ritual where participants and officials send each other cheers for the endurance event that is about to begin, aiming for the same goal despite their different roles!
In 09, the player oath was given by the MVP team of 08, #1 MKS R&KRS-DAI (MKS Racing and KRS Dai) led by coach Dai Agatsuma. Following this, Naofumi Moriyama from the rescue team will give the official oath as the representative. Everyone involved becomes one with a sense of excitement as the atmosphere is both calm and lively. This is now an essential ceremony for "K-TAI"!
At the pre-start grid, the announcer and Twin Ring Motegi Angel will introduce all teams in an interview format, and then enter the formation lap as scheduled. Then, the safety car will return to the pit and the signal will change from red to green, starting the 2009 "K-TAI".
The top entry into corner 1 was from the 3rd grid start, [#43 Garage Chabatake & Kashima Racing]. Following this were [#34 Yamasho Racing] starting from pole position, [#5 Monokore El Coyote Fmv] from the 2nd grid, [#20 RA Racing + Garage Chabatake], [#38 Atom Circuit SSOK2], and [#53 Middle-aged Bousouzoku Kori Nai Menmen Chabatake].
In 2008, #43 Garage Chabatake & Kashima Racing quickly established a dominant position and continued to show exceptional speed in 2009. They quickly pulled away from the rest of the pack.
At the one hour mark, only two teams, [#20 RA Racing + Garage Chabatake] and [#34 Yamasho Racing], were running the same lap as [#43 Garage Chabatake & Kashima Racing]. After that, all teams were lapped.
In the paddock, the "Mini Skirt Police," a traditional feature of "K-TAI," patrol the area, encouraging participants to improve their manners.
If there are any violations of manners, the Mini Skirt Police may catch you and issue a yellow card! They are not strictly enforcing rules, but this is the organizer's way of maintaining a friendly atmosphere while ensuring safety at the event.
At the halfway point of the final event, which lasted two and a half hours, a car got stuck on the track, causing a full course caution.
This safety car did not affect the race order, and #43 Garage Chabatake & Kashima Racing further extended their lead over the following teams. With less than 30 minutes remaining until the checkered flag, they made an emergency pit stop due to a cracked muffler. After replacing the muffler and returning to the track, they still maintained a sufficient margin. After 5 hours had passed, #43 Garage Chabatake & Kashima Racing completed 123 laps, receiving the checkered flag first and winning the large displacement category and the most laps award.
The team #53 Middle-aged Reckless Drivers Unrepentant Members Chabatake, with 119 laps, took second place for the large displacement excellent lap award, and #44 Team VOICe, with 117 laps, took third place for the large displacement excellent lap award.
The winner of the middle displacement category with the most laps was #19 EffeGala.com with 114 laps, followed by #77 7C Agirion☆ThankYouK-Tai with 113 laps. In third place were two teams, #30 HEART&SouthWind with 112 laps and #1 MKS R&KRS-DAI, #9 Team SWC/macs, and #56 WTR Dosawa Automobile/AKCF with 112 laps each.
The award for the most laps in the small displacement category was achieved by #16 Chronos Takahashi Group with 107 laps, followed by #29 Takanesawa Auto Club ★ OB Team with 104 laps in second place, and #24 RK de Cerveza WEST and #73 Chronos Zizy's with 93 laps each in third place for the excellent lap award.
And the highest honor award of “K-TAI,” the “2009 MVP,” was awarded to 【#7 RS.KOBATO】. The MVP is given to the team that, in accordance with the “K-TAI” spirit, enjoyed “K-TAI” the most.
2009 was the final year for the mission-equipped class, but they participated in all nine previous events. Moreover, the drivers were always the same members. Of course, with no penalties, the entire team enjoyed the last mission-equipped class together. This was the reason for their selection in 2009.
Next year will mark the 10th anniversary of the event. Let's all enjoy KART together at the 2010 "K-TAI"!
