Class I saw 【#125 Blue Eyes k】 achieve back-to-back victories!

The 20th Motegi KART Endurance Festival "K-TAI" was held. This year, due to the impact of the new coronavirus, the group photo, checkered flag experience, and Twin Ring Motegi Angel pit report were suspended, and the event was shortened from 7 hours to 5 hours. Thanks to the cooperation of all participants, thorough measures to prevent the spread of infection were able to be implemented and the event was successfully held.

After a rainy July, August finally arrived and the rainy season ended, bringing with it the intense heat of midsummer. The final event for K-TAI was held on August 2nd (Sun), and from the morning the sky was clear and the temperature rose. It was expected to be a tough endurance event in the harsh heat, but with many clouds and less direct sunlight, the conditions were somewhat more comfortable.

The final event, which was delayed by about 5 hours from the scheduled time, started with a rolling start. The first to enter the first corner was 【#86 Corolla Shin-Ibaraki-ReonKids-1】 from the second grid. Following this were 【#101 FIELD@tousou】, 【#30 Corolla Shin-Ibaraki-ReonKids-2】, and 【#31 3% Drunk@GEN】 who drew the pole position. In the opening lap, 【#86 Corolla Shin-Ibaraki-ReonKids-1】 took the lead, followed closely by 【#30 Corolla Shin-Ibaraki-ReonKids-2】 in a 1-2 formation. In third place was 【#101 FIELD@tousou】, and in fourth place was 【#11 Scuderia LCT】 who rose up the ranks. Following them were 【#75 RF.AOYAMA Sake Powers】, 【#31 3% Drunk@GEN】, and 【#25 racer racer T.F.A】 as they entered the second lap.

As we calmly complete laps, the rankings change as usual at the timing of pit stops. At the one hour mark, #38 TeamKRS-DAI&MKS was in the lead, but #510 510club with fast lap times takes the lead, only to pit in immediately after. Once again, #38 TeamKRS-DAI&MKS takes the lead. In the rear, #56 Yokohama Mini Four-Wheel Competition Department and #23 A1-RACING RED were battling for second place.

At the halfway point, after 2 and a half hours, [#38 TeamKRS-DAI&MKS] maintained their lead with 47 laps. [#4 ddd] moved up to second place, while [#80 OREGA RACING@GEN] was in third place, also on the same lap as the leader.

As the final hour approached, each team's strategy became clear. At this point, 【#2 Hayakoba Racing】 was leading with 76 laps. 【#4 ddd】 and 【#38 TeamKRS-DAI&MKS】 were chasing on the same lap. While many teams had already made five or more pit stops, 【#4 ddd】 had only pitted four times. With 45 minutes remaining, 【#2 Hayakoba Racing】 pitted, allowing 【#4 ddd】 to take the lead, but with 40 minutes left, 【#4 ddd】 also headed to the pits. At this point, 【#86 Corolla Shin-Ibaraki-ReonKids-1】 rose to the top, with 【#23 A1-RACING RED】 in pursuit. However, with 27 minutes remaining, a kart leaked oil from the downhill straight to the 90-degree corner, prompting the deployment of the safety car to handle the situation. The gap between the two teams narrowed to 1.759 seconds, but due to the oil cleanup, the race ended under the safety car, and 【#86 Corolla Shin-Ibaraki-ReonKids-1】 received the checkered flag in first place. However, because 【#86 Corolla Shin-Ibaraki-ReonKids-1】 overtook during the safety car period, they were penalized with a two-lap deduction, resulting in 【#23 A1-RACING RED】 winning the most laps award.
"We were able to run with two karts from the same team and save fuel. It’s a victory of teamwork. There was contact at the hairpin which caused a 180-degree spin and lost time, so without that, we might have been able to take the checkered flag in first place," said driver Yuta Kishi.

Despite that, 【#86 Corolla Shin-Ibaraki-ReonKids-1】 won the most laps award in Class III. In Class I, 【#125 Blue Eyes k】 achieved a consecutive second victory.
And the MVP went to 【#78 SPJ TECORSA】.
