2016 "Mote tai" August 7 (Sun) Race Report

On August 7th, which became a hot day from the morning, the 19th "Mote tai" started at 10 o'clock with a Le Mans-style start where riders ran to the machine. The second grid, #53 MOTORACING & KYOEI, showed a good start, followed by #13 MOTORACING & KYOEI in 6th grid, and MOTORACING & KYOEI was 1-2. This was followed by #56 HAPPY MONDAY, #1 YSS Racing Bulldock Tagos starting from pole position, #10 Team Penske, #70 Uprise + Teishin Kogyo, and #75 D;REX. In the midst of the chaotic opening lap, #53 MOTORACING & KYOEI entered the second lap in the lead. #10 Team Penske was right behind, and #36 Motorcycle Japan A was following with some distance, but in the entry to the 5th corner, #53 MOTORACING & KYOEI and #10 Team Penske collided. At this time, the brake lever of #53 MOTORACING & KYOEI went up and they went off the course and crashed. After that, #10 Team Penske and #36 Motorcycle Japan A battled for the lead. In 3rd place was #12 CLUB1.2FK Kusitani Kawaguchi store, and in 4th place was #30 Autotechnic Sports 01. After that, the Brave class #12 CLUB1.2FK Kusitani Kawaguchi store caught up and took the lead, but they made a routine pit stop. On the other hand, #30 Autotechnic Sports 01, #10 Team Penske, and others had a strategy to pull the first stint.

An accident occurred at the 5th corner around 1 hour and 40 minutes into the race. The safety car was deployed as the car remained on the track. During the safety car run, there was another accident where a car overturned on the home straight, causing the safety car to stay out for about 20 minutes. At this time, the leader was #30 Autotechnic Sports 01. However, they had to make an emergency pit stop due to a broken shift bolt, causing them to drop in position. Taking over the lead was #1 YSS Racing Bulldockertagos, but they were unable to showcase their true speed due to a broken shift rod. In the meantime, #10 Team PENSKE took over the lead and continued to widen the gap with a high pace. From behind, #090 Teruru Honeybee Racing gradually moved up in position and eventually rose to 2nd place due to pit stop timing.

With 1 hour remaining, #10 Team Penske was leading with 143 laps completed. #090 Teruru Honeybee Racing and #1 YSS Racing Bulldock Tagos followed on the same lap, with #12 CLUB1.2FK Kushitani Kawaguchi Store in 4th place. #090 Teruru Honeybee Racing wanted to continue to the finish as is, but due to fuel shortage, they pitted with 30 minutes remaining. #1 YSS Racing Bulldock Tagos also made their final pit stop, and #12 CLUB1.2FK Kushitani Kawaguchi Store rose to 2nd place. It seemed they would reach the finish in this order, but with 3 minutes left, #12 CLUB1.2FK Kushitani Kawaguchi Store made an emergency pit stop due to fuel starvation. This allowed #1 YSS Racing Bulldock Tagos to move up to 2nd place. Immediately after, the checkered flag was waved, and #10 Team Penske crossed the finish line first, but was disqualified after post-race inspection for violating fuel tank capacity regulations. As a result, #1 YSS Racing Bulldock Tagos was promoted and secured their second consecutive victory.
“This year, with the engine power increased, fuel efficiency became tough, and with 3 hours remaining, the shift rod broke, so I couldn’t use the shifter and didn’t think we could win. Although it’s another victory by default following last year, it’s precisely because we were in this position that we could win, and I believe it’s thanks to everyone’s efforts and the support from our fans. Thank you very much,” said Tatsuya Koitabashi of 【#1 YSS Racing Bulldock Tagos】.

【#090 Teruru Honeybee Racing】 finished in 2nd place, 12.682 seconds behind the leader, with 【#30 Autotechnic Sports 01】 coming in 3rd place, 23.421 seconds behind. 【#12 CLUB1.2FK Kushitani Kawaguchi Store】 finished in a disappointing 4th place. Following them were 【#75 D;REX】, 【#70 Uprise + Teishin Kogyo】, 【#63 Dog Fight Racing】, 【#21 NR Project Ga Mu Chota】, 【#11 BlueEyes & DREAM Kashiwa】, 【#36 Motorcycle Japan A】, 【#92 KTM Kawasaki Chuo】, 【#23 SANMEI + S-Supply】, 【#95 TEAM YSP Mitaka】, and 【#773 Autotechnic Sports 02】.
